Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Utah

I have $15000of credit card debt I am trying to get rid of. I was contacted by a company that said, if I sign a letter of assignment for the debt and pay a small fee they would get a new contract with the credit card companys in which penalties and fee would be assessed to the credit card companys (for change in intrest rate, late fees, ect.). I was told that in 6 to 8 months the credit card companys will owe enough to offset the debt. Is this legal or a scam?

You will have to research this company yourself. Do not pay money in advance. They will try to negotiate a better deal with your creditors. You might be able to do the same thing.
