Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Utah

Charge/Written Off Debt

An creditor reported my account to credit bureau as ''Status: account charged off/collection account, written off in 10-1999. Account History: Charge of as of 8-1999 to 10-1999, Collection as of 6-1998 to 7-1999. This account is scheduled to continue on record until 6-2005'' in and around 12/1999.

But recently, the creditor updated the account status to credit bureau as ''Status: Account charged off/Never late. $3,829 written off'' with ''Date of Status: 12/2005'', ''Last Reported: 12/2005'', ''Creditor's statement: Account closed at credit grantor's request.'', ''Account History: Charge off as of Dec 2005'', ''Balance History: 11/2005 $3,829'' and ''As of Nov 2005 your credit limit/high balance was $5,235''.

With the recently updated from the creditor, my score has dropped again. Is it legal that the creditor restated the status of the old debt? What can I do now to take care the problem?

Thanks,

You can contact the reporting agency (credit bureau) and ask them to investigate.
