collection agency collecting twice

Can a collection agency charge you twice for attorney fees? I owed a debt to a buisness and the total amount includeing attorney fees was $538.00 then when I went to court to settle this the collection agency said they would settle for $800.00 I never realized at the time I agreed to pay the $800.00 that the collection agency was charging me another $175.00 in attorney fees and intrest. Is this legal I only owe $170.00 and I want to know if I have meet my legal abligation to the collection agency?

Re: collection agency collecting twice

It is questionable, you can file a complaint with the Utah State Bar unless the court action is not complete, in which case you can still negotiate or talk to the judge.
