Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Utah

consistent payment history sent to collections

My daughter recently finished a chemotherapy treatment which involved several doctors and medical facilities. She has ended up with three huge medical bills - ''patient portion'' - after the insurance paid their portion. I have been helping her make small payments for the past year - consistently every month $15 - more at first when there was only one doctor wanting payment - now there are three bills that are still outstanding. Only one of the hospitals is threatening to send her to collections because we aren't making a larger payment (this was the one we were making a larger payment to at first) -

Is this possible with us continuing to make a payment each month???

Re: consistent payment history sent to collections

You can negotiate with the creditors, however, most medical agreements require payment due upon rendering of services. The creditors can demand full payment, there is no requirement that they take payments, beyond what they might agree.
