Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Utah
Can the credit bureau take my taxes?
I owe $3500.00 to the credit bureau. I have owed this for going on 2 years. They wanted to garnish my wages, but I do not make enough for them to do that, so I have set up a ''wage assignement''.
I am ready to do my taxes, but am wondering if they are going to take them. Or if they evan can take them without
informing me of this first

Re: Can the credit bureau take my taxes?
Credit bureau cannot take your taxes, unless they are collecting unpaid child support. However, they can garnish bank accounts, so if you get much of a return you may want to be sure there is no garnishment on your bank account. Another thought, you may be able to negotiate a discounted settlement with a lump payment from your tax return. Creditors often will discount - sometimes as much as 40% or more - for a lump sum payment. You may want a 3rd party to negotiate for you. Do not reveal where the money is coming from.
