credit card charge off

can an attorney collect on a credit card account that ths been charged off

"Charging off" is an accounting process than changes an asset to a loss and writes it off of the books. Such accounts can still be collected. Often the primary creditor will sell these accounts to collection agencies and/or lawyers who then collect on the debts. You owe the money until the debt is paid, discharged in bankruptcy or expires under a statute of limitations.
