Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Utah
credit card dispute
I have just disputed a charge for $ 393.90 on my discover card over the phone and they gave me a temporary credit which was reversed a couple weeks later. Then, I sent a letter to explain the dispute and they gave a response that based upon their review of the account it appears that i have previously disputed this matter, and that my previous dispute was investigated and resolved. Without additional information they are unable to re-investigate my dispute they are adjusting my account so that it reports as disputed to the credit bureau reporting agencies. My question is I don't want to pay the charge because I am not satisfy with their investigation. Can I do that? I believe they charged a finance charge on my last statement. According to The Fair Credit Billing Act I can withold payment on the disputed amount. My credit score right know is very good.

Re: credit card dispute
As a practical matter and to protect your credit score, I would pay the amount but alert them that you dispute the charges. You can however refuse to pay and let them know why you will not pay and point them to the portion of the act that allows you to do so. . .

Pay then get your evidence together and take them to court
