Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Utah

Can debt collectors legally charge interest on old debt. I'm now making payments on an old debt where I've been being charged 21% interest the whole time! Because I couldn't pay until now, the interest balance is twice the amount of the original debt balance. Is this legal in Utah?

It is legal. Try to negotiate with the collector for a lower rate or amount on the debt. Generally they will take less for old debts - regardless of what they say. You may need to stop payments to give the collector an incentive to work with you.
