Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Utah

Garnishment

My paycheck is being garnished for an automobile my ex-husband and I owned. (total of $18,000). The car is gone (he totalled it) and the divorce decree states he is responsible for all debt incurred before our separation. The lawyer for the auto company would not accept this. Do I have a case if I get a lawyer? Can I have my ex-husband charged for this as well? Thank you for your help. This went to court in Utah and I live in Virginia.

Re: Garnishment

Your husband is required to reimburse you for the garnishment. You may have to sue him, but he can be held in contempt of court for failure to pay this.
