garnishment
I am 70-years-old. My only income is from Social Security. Can my SS income be garnished to pay credit card balances?

Re: garnishment
A creditor can attempt to garnish the money. When you get notice of the garnishment, you will have to file for a hearing in court. At that hearing you can ask the court to consider your SS income exempt - so that the creditor cannot touch the money.

Re: garnishment
Not in Texas. Creditor can garnish or attach nonexempt property with Court Order AFTER they get a judgment but before a judgment..NO ...and with a judgment NO garnishment of wages nor social security...good luch
