Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Utah

We own our home

With the economy on the brink of destruction, what will happen: 1. Our house is paid for, we have credit cards and a unsecured loan. Can they take our home if things fall apart and we no longer have our Social Security coming in.

Re: We own our home

A creditor would have to get a judgment against you; then the creditor could force the sale of your house if you did not pay the debt. You may want to consider placing your home in a trust, which would make it hard for a creditor to force the sale; and would also allow you to pass your home (and other assets in the trust) to your heirs without opening probate. You may call for a free consultation.
