Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Utah

Judgement debtor help

I was a co-signer for a car at a ''buyhere payhere'' lot in Utah. The car fell apart the next day, and was never fixed to my satisfaction. The lot refused to alow me to return the car and only offer to keep repairing. Being naive and angry I just left the car at the lot and walked away. They had a collection bureau try to get payment from me, and I would always ask why they were'nt going after the primary debtor, and where was the car because as I understood that sale of the car was supposed to be deducted from my debt. They could never answer these questions. Now a state away I found a judgement on my credit report with massive intrest! Do I even have a prayer to resolve this within reason?

Re: Judgement debtor help

As you now know it was unwise to leave the car and walk away. You may be able to get the judgment set aside, however, you will still have to live with the consequences of your decision. The dealer declared you in default after you quit making payments, sold the car wholesale and then sued you for the difference of the second sale and what you owe. The interest is probably in the sale contract you signed. You could also file bankruptcy.
