Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Utah
Legally allowed collection
What kind of debts can a spouse be held accountable for. If a spouses name is not on the debt can that person be held accountable for debt and be garnished or have judgments put against them for that debt. The state I live in is Utah so I need the law according to that State.

Re: Legally allowed collection
Generally, if your name is not on the account you cannot be held liable for the debt. In order for a garnishment to occur, a judgment must be issued after a case is filed in court. You should respond to any lawsuit filed against you.
