Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Utah

making threats

If someone gives you money saying

there is no strings attached and then

afterwards is angry and decides they

want to get even saying they where

used for they money, can they win in

court for what they call getting the

money based on false pretense?

Saying I pretended to like them and

kept saying how badly I was in need

of they $ and that is why they gave

it to me. There was no agreement to

pay anything back and they offered

it. They are now threatening thru

email to start proceedings. They have

threatened numerous times before

as well. They are now saying unless I

meet with them in person and

answer ?s they have they will start

proceedings. If I meet with them

they make it sound as if they won't.

All done via e mail.

Re: making threats

You are not obligated to pay back a gift, unless you so choose. If you believe it was a gift, tell the other person to sue you and tell your story to the court.
