Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Utah

I paid my divorce lawyer a retainer fee for an uncontested divorce and in my final divorce papers it is stated, should it become contested all fees would be paid by my ex husband. Well it was contested and now that lawyer is trying to garnish my kid's child support, which is the only income coming in. I'm low income, single mom. Can he legally go after me if it states in my divorce he's suppose to get paid by my ex? And can he garnish the only income coming in right now which is child support?

You may have to go after your ex for the money to pay the lawyer. It depends on the exact language of the agreements and who was aware of the agreements. If your lawyer did not make an agreement with your ex, you have to pay the bill.

Your child support may be protected. File the request for a hearing documents that came with the notice of garnishment. There are limitations on what can be garnished.
