Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Utah

Hello I am paying on a collection with a collection company. When they gave me a receipt it had more accounts on it. I asked them if they could add them to what I was paying now and they told me no they had to take me to court first. I have a stamped receipt showing what I have paid and what they wont let me pay on. What they wont let me pay is collecting interest. What can I do to stop them from doing this?

They do not need to take you to court before accepting payment. Make a written offer for the amount of the debts as they stand today. Then if they assess you additional interest or sue you, you have a record of your offer. Send the offer by certified mail return receipt.
