Promisary note legal in right to work state?

I just started working for this company recently that made me sign a promisary note prior to employment. They sent me to truck driving school, and then i began work... but i hate the job and the company isnt what they professed to be... the prommisary stipulated i have to pay a certain sum or give one year of work... i think i want my options to be open. how binding is this note?

Without seeing the note there is no way to determine. Generally a note like that would be binding. You can quit and wait for them to sue you and let a judge decide whether the note is valid; and you can countersue claiming they breached your deal because they misrepresented themselves. Or you can work out the year. Or you can pay them back the remaining value of the note.
