Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Utah

recording phone conversations

I've read that the majority of states require that only one party give their consent to the recording of phone conversations. If a third party debt collector calls me AND they and I are in one of these states, do I have to tell them that the conversation is being recorded on my end? Can those recordings be used in court? They all record, they're required to, can I request (or demand) their recordings be put into evidence in a court case? I requested information, was told it would be sent and was waiting for that information when I was served a summons. Had I received that info, this would not even have gone to court. Without a recording of the conversation, it's my word against theirs.

Re: recording phone conversations

Respond to the summons, then subpoena the records you want.
