Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Utah
Reposession of Personal Property
Recently I bought a computer from a private party. To my surprise I received a phone call stating that the computer had a UCC filing against it and that it was the intention of the secured party to reposses the property. What am I to do?

Re: Reposession of Personal Property
Your computer is subject to a UCC-1 lien, which is like a first mortgage. You will probably have to pay the lien holder to be able to retain the computer. You can go against the seller for what you paid.
