Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Utah

On going student loan

I have a student loan from 18 yrs ago that I have been paying on. Eventually it was returned to a state agency and a garnishment has been done for sometime now. It has created a hardship on my family, as well as placed undue stress on my work environment. Is there anyway out of this. The intrest alone on this will keep me paying until I pass away. The amount in question is about 10,000 dollars.
