Legal Question in Criminal Law in Utah
If a car has been stopped by police (broken tail light) and the officers ask the driver permission to search the car, do they have a legal right to search through backpacks that are in the car but belong to other people that are in the car and present at the scene if the owner of that backpack was not asked permission to search it?
