Legal Question in Criminal Law in Utah

I would like to know how to go about getting a charge on my criminal history corrected to the charge that I had plead to. It has been nine years since I was charged and not knowing until recently that I have been improperly accused of a crime that I didn't plea to. It has not been listed on my criminal history correctly. Therefore unjustly being denied jobs and where to live has come into play because of it for nine years! How do I go about getting this corrected and getting any compensation for the error that caused unproper discrimination??

Thank you, JIM

You need to contact the court clerk where the "error" occurred, check the entry on the court's record, compare it to the records that you were given. if it is a clerical error, it should be corrected. If it does not accurately reflect your understanding, you could always contact the prosecutor's office where the event occurred and see if they are willing to correct the record. Otherwise you need to confer with counsel and review the records with them.

I doubt you can get compensation, but I do not do that kind of work.
