Legal Question in Criminal Law in Utah
drug law precedents
What is the precedents for ''creating a need'' for a charge of drug distribution? A 37 year old man (confidential informant) came into my home, and after several visits pressured my 18 year old son into selling him drugs.

Re: drug law precedents
The legal concept you seek is called Entrapment. It requires proof that your son was somehow inticed to commit a crime which he otherwise would not have committed, and basically is a charge of unfairness against law enforcement. The problem with the defense is it requires an admission of guilt and then attempted proof. It doesn't always work.
Your son is an adult. He will have to start behaving like one and learn to stick to no.
Best of luck.
