Legal Question in Criminal Law in Utah
juvenile poss.
My 16 year old son was in poss. of drug paraphenalia and brass knuckles during school. He was suspended and made to sign a ticket before he was allowed to empty his locker without a police officer present. Is this legal?

Re: juvenile poss.
There is a limited right to privacy at the school. Anyone who gets a ticket must either sign it agreeing to take care of it, or they will be arrested. I am quite surprised that they let him clean out his locker without the cop looking over his shoulder - or the cop doing it for him.
I guess the short answer to your question is "Probably yes, depending upon the laws in your local jurisdiction."
