Legal Question in Criminal Law in Utah
i was recently taken to jail for a warrant on a simple assault charge stemming from an argument I had with an adult child of mine back in 2009. I never spoke to police nor was I even aware of there being a charge . Is there any type of limitation on this sort of thing

Limitations periods set deadlines for prosecutors to file charges. If that was done on time, then the statute was satisfied. That often happens before the defendant is arrested or even made aware he's a suspect.
