Legal Question in Criminal Law in Utah
I recently received a ticket for illegal importation of alcohol into the state of Utah which I guess is a class B misdemeanor. I recently moved there from WI. I had no idea there was such a law that even existed. I will have to court for this one. What would be the best way to handle this situation?

I would appear at court and ask the judge to appoint you an attorney. if you do not qualify I would hire one to negotiate with the prosecutor. Depending on how much alcohol you brought with you it seems like a sympathetic case to present to a jury. If you have a clean record, you may be able to get what is referred to as a plea in abeyance, meaning the charges would be dismissed in 6 mo or a year if you have not further violations of the law.
