Stolen Car

A young man came to buy my car, he said his wife had just had a baby and his credit was not very good but he could pay it off in a few months, $3400 and he would bring me a $500 down payment in three days, I have a bill of sale and a copy of his drivers license. He does not have the title. He has changed his phone number twice and aparently he gave me a false adress. However I do know that his name is his true name. he has not paid for the car and it has been over a month. Shortly after buying the car he called my brother and wanted to buy his truck wich he had for sale, yet he did not know that it was my brother and that he knew who he was. he told him that he had a 2000 Ford Escort (my car) that he could use as collateral. I believe this man is some sort of scammer and I want to stop him and get my car back as well, what can I do legaly?

Sounds like he didn't buy the car at all, if he exchanged no money for it (do you have a contract; what does it say?). If he drove it away on a promise to pay, and hasn't paid anything, call the police and report it as stolen, and share every bit of information you have with them.
