Ticketed for Illegal possession of alcohol

My son is 19 years old and on probation for 1 year in the State of Utah for blowing a .00196. Last night he was at a friends house and the cops came as he was leaving. He blew a .00000 and the cops gave him a ticket for illegal possession of alcohol and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. What are his rights and is this worth fighting.

I don't know enough about the facts of the possession or the contributing. However, the contributing charge is serious and judges look down on people that supply alcohol to underage kids. I think it is worth fighting and he should assert all of his rights to a jury trial.
