Legal Question in Elder Law in Utah

Placing parents in nursing home

I know that when you place your parents in a nursing home that you have to sign away their house. However, do you still have to if it is your personal residence and you have lived there all your life?

Re: Placing parents in nursing home

If you can show that by living in the home with your parents you were able to keep from having to put them in a rest home, and avoid having Medicaid pay for it, you should be able to keep the home, at least while you are alive. Be aware that the rules in this area are changing frequently, and they are always tighter than before the change.
