Legal Question in Family Law in Utah
I have a 3 year old daughter, DOB august 31, 07. Her bio father lives 2100 miles away in Kentucky. I live in Utah. He came to see her on her first birthday, since then, things have changed. he entered a new relationship, and his girlfriend didnt want me calling him at all..wether it had to do with my daughter or not. Anyways...He Doesnt call, Doesnt send anything, no child support, no clothes..nothing..since her first birthday, he has probably called five times to see how his daughter was.. I am married now, to a man that my daughter has known all her life as her father. I have asked her bio father a few times to sign relinquishment papers, or to maintain a consistent relationship...he has not maintained any contact, so i need to do what is best for my daughter...Can i force his hand into signing relinquishment papers? Either way, could you help me by telling me what options i have, , and what i can legally do? he is on her birth certificate..

There is a procedure for your new husband to adopt your child, even if the birth dad objects. You may call for a free consultation.
