Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

Adoption of Spouses Child

I am wanting to adopt my wife's child. The child's biological father has not seen her or made any attempts to see her since she was 10 months old. Nor has he ever provided any financial support or medical insurance for her. What must we do to legally adopt her? Does the biological father need to sign a relinquishment of parental rights? How do we go about obtaining one if it is required?

Thank you for any assistance you can give us with the Requirements in the State of Utah

Re: Adoption of Spouses Child

You may file for a stepparent adoption, and seek an order that the father abandoned the child. Not terribly complicated. Call for a free consultation.

Probably not a good solution. If a guest places items in an in room safe, then claims it was burgled, you may be liable if you do not have a separate safe under your control. You should have your own safe, where you can inventory property placed therein, and guarantee its safety and security
