Re: Alimony

I assume the question is whether you can go back to court for more alimony? Yes, one can return to court for reconsideration of an award of alimony. Generally a court will want at least one year to have passed since the last time the issue was considered, and for a showing of a substantial change in circumstances. Example #1, husband pays wife $500 per month alimony and has so paid for two years. Husband obtains a new job earning three times his former income, wife can go back to court and claim change in circumstances and request additional alimony. Example #2, wife has been receiving alimony and was partially disabled during marriage, but working. Now she can no longer work due to disability, she may return and ask for more alimony. Example 3, wife gets large raise, husband can go back to court and request a change in alimony.
