I have to answer to a petition to modify my child support. Is there a form I have to use or can I answer each point in letter form?

You have to file a response in the form of the petition served on you.

Generally, you need to file your Answer in the same pleading format as the petition that was served on you. However, if you choose to simply file a letter, the court will usually accept that as your answer even though it's not the preferable way to respond. Also, you need to certify on whatever you file, that a copy of the original response was mailed to opposing counsel with the necessary information as to the address where it was sent and on what date. Frankly, it is best to retain legal counsel to assist you with these types of matters.
