Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

My boyfriend is buying a house 6 months before our wedding. He wants me to move in and pay all the utilities and home improvement without any credit towards mortgage payments and without my name on the mortgage or title. We have equal incomes, and I have a child from a previous marriage. What should I do to protect myself in case of a divorce? How do I document and ensure my rights in the property?

I would recommend that you and he sign a prenuptial agreement to define the rights in the home in the event of divorce. Even without such an agreement, you would probably acquire an equitable interest in the home even though your name isn't on the title or mortgage loan.
