Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

Change of Divorce Decree

My question is about my husband and his ex-wife. She will be getting married soon and the man she is marrying is well...fairly wealthy. My question is when they get married is there any way to change the child support amount now that she will have support from her new husband. Right now my husband pays quite a bit and it seems that it really doesn't go to the kids but to her house payment. We are expecting a child and it would really be helpful if we could have the extra money. Is there anything we can do!? Thank you.

Re: Change of Divorce Decree

Sorry. Child support is between your husband and his ex; her new husband is not a part of the equation. Example, if the ex married a man in debt, you would not want your husband's child support to go up. It works both ways.

FYI, child support is used by the recipient to pay for any of the needs for the children, including housing. The recipient has the discretion to use the money as she sees fit; your husbands only cause to object is if the children are being neglected, in which case he can sue for custody.
