Legal Question in Family Law in Utah
What if a child doesn't want to go?
The past few weeks my 7 year old son has come back from visitaion with his dad only to tell me that his dad has slapped him in the face. My son has begged me not to make him go for visitation, and has written letters for his siblings to give to their dad saying so. Do I have to force him to go when he doesn't want to, or can my son tell him himself that he doesn't want to come?

Re: What if a child doesn't want to go?
The law requires that you make your son available for visits. If the son does not want to go, he must tell his father so. You may also want to talk to the Division of Child and Family Services about the slapping, or other abuse.
