Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

What do you do when your child's father is an attorney, and comes from a family of attorneys, and is also mentally, verbally & physically abusive to the child, and you don't have as much money as it would take to fight him in court. (this man puts on an excellent show, people would be shocked to know that this is the kind of person he really is.) The child sobs uncontrolably when having to go with the father, begging the mother not to make them go The child has a hard time talking to anyone about the extent of what they are enduring while with the father, due to what happens when they do. The child has talked about some of what happens, but begs and askes for promises for the person not to tell anyone that they told them about it, out of fear of what will happen next

Do you handle this type of situation? Do you know any extremely good lawyers who do? I'd love to recommend someone to this family, who could fight this child's dad / family in court and win, so this little child won't have to be put through this any longer. The child is about 8-9 now.

Thank you

I specialize in family law matters and would be available to meet with the mother to discuss her situation. I offer a free initial consultation so please have her contact my office to set up an appointment. On an immediate basis, if there's physical abuse occurring, DCFS should be contacted and a report made.

In a highly contested divorce as this will be, you need experienced counsel for assistance. The child should be in counseling. Regardless of the stature of the father, the law about divorce and child custody is set up so that a good attorney can get the child protected. I have handled high conflict cases, and would like to talk to you.

Note: I do not live in Weber County but practice there regularly. Not being a Weber Co based attorney I have more autonomy from pressure from his lawyer family.

You may call for a free consultation.
