Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

If my childs father wants to sign his rights over to avoid paying child support and claims it will be best for the child..less chaotic, what do I need to do? I believe it takes two he is as responsible as I am..

You need to get an order in place that orders him to pay child support. This can be done through a Paternity Action if you were never married to him.

Fathers cannot sign over children to avoid child support unless there is a step parent adoption. The law requires him to pay child support. You should seek an order compelling him to pay child support. Contact the Office of Recovery Services if you are receiving public assistance, or file for a support order in court.
