Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

I have a credit card that I've had prior to meeting my wife it had quite a high balance on it and After receiving our tax return we decided to put it all on my card. A few days later my wife decides she wants to move and get a divorce. She is also demanding that I repay her 1/2 of our tax return. Is that right?

It probably all depends on the timing in terms of when all of this occurred and what, exactly, the nature of your agreement was and how much money is involved. If she agreed to contribute the tax retund to retire or partially retire your premarital debt, then I would take the position that she should not now be entitled to any of it back.

She may be entitled to 1/2 of the tax return if both of you are working and jointly sharing household expenses. There are probably more issues.
