Legal Question in Family Law in Utah
Custody question and live in Utah: I (sole physical custody) have moved into, and I am renting my parents basement to save money to buy a house. The only thing we share is the kitchen and the laundry. I asked my ex (non-custodial parent) if he would keep the kids for 7.5 weeks (because it was one quarter of school) while I got the kids rooms ready at my mothers house. He is not working, is behind on child support, and is trying to tell me that he is going to try and take custody of the kids because I chose to place them with him while I got their rooms ready. (Rooms had mold and things that needed to be taken care of, placing them was in their best interest). Does he have any legal standing at all?

He is the father and that gives him standing to ask for more parent time. Depending on your history and many other circumstances will determine whether or not he will get more parent time.
