Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

Dealing with a car lease in a divorce.

My boyfriend got a divorce last year. He and his ex-wife had a 5 year car lease together...which still has about 3 years left on it. She got posession of the car in the divorce and agreed to make the payments. Legally he is still responsible for it financially. She isn't making the payments and we don't want his credit ruined because of her. Is there anyway that he can get his name off of the lease or get posession of the car? She is a material person and refuses to give it up but we can't afford to have bad credit ratings! Anything you know of to solve this problem? Thanks!

If she was granted the car, she should have been ordered to pay the lease payment. Your boyfriend should have gotten an order for her to refinance or sell the car. Now he will have to go back to court and sue her for contempt for her failure to pay the lease. He can then ask for possession (based on her non-payment) or some other order disposing of the car.
