Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

Denial of Child Visitation

I picked up my 2 daughters for their visitation with me at 6 PM friday night. My younger daughter had been a little sick earlier in the day. I took them to a BarBQ with a group of friends and left at 10 PM and returned home by 11 PM. My daughters are 1 year and 2 1/2 years old. My Soon to be Ex Had tried calling to find out about how they were and panicked when I was not at home. When I arrived home she pulled up right after me got into the car and retrieved both of my daughters and put them into her car with her fathers help at 11 PM at night. She would not let me see them the rest of the weekend. What is my recourse of action dto make sure that this does not happen again and does she have a right to tell me what I can and cannot do with my daughters when they are with me? I do have temporary orders of visitation with the children that is court ordered.

Re: Denial of Child Visitation

Your soon to be ex may be overanxious about the children. You two are going to have to communicate better about the welfare of the children. You may want to offer to tell her any time you are not at your home with the children so she does not worry. She should learn to trust you more when you have the children. Remember that the children are the victims in your divorce - they are not the pawns. She has no right to withhold visitation, and can be held in contempt of court for refusing court ordered visitation without just cause.
