Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

distance that requires two parrents to share driving for visitation

Is there a distance or time that requires a costodial parent to perhaps go half way to meet for child visitation. i am the custodial parent of a 15 year old. We live aprox. 60 miles from his mother. about a 50 minunet drive. am I required to structure my schedule to have to meet her 1/2 way for pick up and delevery. The court granted the child can schedule his own visitation, as per his mothers attorney at the trial. I only asked to know when and where he is going. i do not ever talk to her , but she calles often , we all agree there has to be something for the child to want to go, with out being forced. I work rotating shift work i do not want to also drive to drop him of going to or coming from a 12 hour work day. do i have to . when we only live 50 minunets away. ????????

If there is no order about this matter from the court, then an agreement between the two parents is appropriate. If you cannot come to agreement, try to meet with an arbitrator to come to an agreement. Generally parents meet half way or otherwise agree to equally share the transportation cost/time.
