Legal Question in Family Law in Utah
Our divorce action was lengthy, expensive, and full of conflict... conflict continues. We need a Special Master, but it's my understanding (from what I was told by a mediator) that the courts won't assign a Special Master because it violates the parties rights. The only way to have a Special Master assigned is when both parties agree to the assignment. Is this accurate? If so, is there another option? My X is opposed to the assignment of a parenting coordinator and/or special master, but I think it would eliminate 99.9% of the conflict.

From what you have said it appears that your ex is self absorbed, narcissistic, and a control freak. A special master must be agreed upon by both parties. Because your ex is difficult, your only recourse is to beat him in court. Of course that is expensive, but he will not listen to anyone except a judge who can throw him in jail - and even then your ex will protest....
