Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

I dont want a divorce

My husband wants a divorce and his reasons change every day. I dont want one until he tries to work it out. He just ran off one day and has been gone for 2 1/2 months. I am pregnant and want to know what I could do to make him at least try to make it work before we call it quits.

Re: I dont want a divorce

There is absolutely nothing you can do to MAKE your husband want to work out your relationship. However, you can seek some counseling to learn what you contributed to the demise of your marriage; and you can offer him a chance to meet with the counselor to see if your husband wants to work out things. Otherwise, divorce in Utah requires only one party to want to get out, and the only reason the person needs to give is irreconcilable differences, even if the other spouse objects. Keeping someone in a marriage where they do not want to be is a form of slavery, and was abolished some time ago.
