ive been divorced for 4 years, my ex and i have joint custody of our 4 children in utah. recently i found out that my employer may be transferring me to texas. can i take the kids?

If you are the primary physical custodian of your kids you may take them. You must give written notice to the other parent as soon as possible. New visitation rules will kick in call the long distance visitation schedule. You may want to talk to the other parent to create a new schedule if the statutory schedule does not work.
