Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

what doew reasonable mean??

I recently had my divorce finalized and in the visitation part it says reasonable times and reasonable places. Does this indicate who my kids can see or does this have to be specified in the papers. This has arisen because my exwife and my girlfriend had an argument although for the last two years my kids have come over every other weekend and now I am allowed 6 hours Sat and Sun and she says they are not allowed to be around my girlfriend. Please help with any clarification you can give me on this.

Re: what doew reasonable mean??

Reasonable is vague and pretty much worthless language when people disagree. Since you had weekend visitation before, cutting it back is not reasonable absent some good reasons. (Obviously your ex thinks that your girlfriend is a good reason to cut back on visitation. It will take a judge to decide if she is right.) Your decree should have set forth minimum visitation if "reasonable" does not work. (See U.C.A. 30-3-35 and -35.5) Consider returning to court to get the decree modified to include this reference. In the meantime, get your girlfriend out of the discussions about the children. Girlfriends are usually temporary fixtures in the lives of children and generally only add to unnecessary confusion experienced by the children. Your children need and deserve as much stability and security as possible.
