Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

Family law

My son is 21 and was served with papers about paternity, He is not sure if he is the father or not. The girl was seeing him and her now present boyfriend at the same time. He is unsure what to do and he is unemployed right now so cannot afford a lawyer what can he do to defend himself.

Re: Family law

Unless he files an answer properly contesting the petition that has been served on him, he will be defaulted and the girl will get what she is requesting in her petition. While I understand his financil predicament, I strongly suggest he and/or his family do whatever is necessary to retain legal counsel to represent him. You may rest assured, if he does nothing, it could very well end up costing him a great deal more money than what he would spend on attorney's fees in his case.
