Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

I have been in a female same sex domestic partnership that was granted in california. My partner and I moved to Utah 2 years ago and we broke up and she moved back to california aYear ago. Is it against the law for me to marry a man in utah, while the domestic partnership has not been dissolved? I do live in Utah, but do not want to be considered a polygamist.

Your domestic partnership must be dissolved, otherwise your partner may have a claim on property that may become part of your marriage.

The dissolution should occur under the terms of your domestic partnership agreement, or if there are no terms set forth there, under the laws of either California or Utah. Your former partner will have to be given notice of the dissolution.
