Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

filing for divorce, child custody, abuse,

If a parent has abused illegal drugs and quickly admitted themselves to inpatient/outpatient treatment and consented to any amount of supervision, drug testing, or any stipulations to get help, can that parent earn enough creditability to contest custody of the child, in order to free herself and the child from physical abuse?

The one who has admitted herself has no priors and has not told anyone of her spouse's own drug use?

Re: filing for divorce, child custody, abuse,

Probably, it depends on all of the facts. You should consult with an attorney - and immediately get away from the abuser and take the children to a safe place, such as a women's shelter - where you can get counseling and help.
